Lisa Rosenstreich’s work bridges abstraction and figuration, driven by her fascination with the materiality of paint. Known for her dynamic expressionist brushstrokes and use of subjective color, she has explored multiple media, including oil, cold wax, acrylic, and collage. Her imagery reflects a deep interest in psychology, constructed narratives, the natural world, and the formal elements of light, color, and composition. After studying sociology and pursuing a career in social services, she took up painting in her 30's, eventually returning to school for an MFA. Rosenstreich is now an Associate Professor of Art at Mendocino Community College in Ukiah, CA, where her students range in age from 14-85.
